Gifts for Boyfriend

An App or a Game

A new feature has come to iTunes: The ability to gift specific iPhone, iPad or iPod apps or games to other users. So you don't have to go out. And if your partner is Geeky or a Gamer then an app or a game is the best option. It is very easy to do either of these things. If he has an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, just create an iTunes account and buy an app or a game that you think he will like and then enter his username, which he can then download for free on his phone. If he is into PC gaming, then you can gift Him games using Steam. A typical iPhone app/game costs around $0.99 (Rs. 45) and a Steam game can cost you anything between $5 (Rs. 228) and $50. Please note, you can only give users in your country gifts — so keep that in mind, especially if you have more than one iTunes account.

A pair of headphones

Most guys like me are heavily into either music, movies, gaming or all three. The best way to ensure that they enjoy listening to what they like is by gifting a pair of headphones that will blow his ears off. A good set of cans start somewhere from Rs. 1,000 and can go into six digit figures, but you really need to love Him a lot for those. We would suggest the Sennheiser HD 202 (I use the same) for Rs. 1,500, which are well priced and have awesome audio quality.

The Xbox 360 Controller

If He is crazy about PC gaming and for some reason is still stuck using the keyboard and mouse for anything that does not involve shooting, then put him out of His misery by gifting Him the Microsoft Xbox 360 PC controller. It costs about Rs. 1,300 and kicks more ass than you can image. For some extra punch, you can dig deeper into your purse and shell out Rs. 2,500 for the wireless version

 A media player

The Zebronics Cinema 4.3 is a very handy yet powerful media player. It has a 4.3-inch touchscreen and plays 720p videos in almost every format. No conversion necessary. It also comes with a boatload of features, such as TV-out, 8GB memory, microSD card slot, FM radio, voice recorder and built-in espresso machine.

All this for just Rs. 4,500. With all this awesomeness available for so less, you can consider getting one for yourself as well. Or you can just forget about Him and get one for yourself. Who needs a boyfriend anyway when you have 720p video playback in a pocket size player? Lol

A smartphone

You have a huge range of options available here and you can go totally mad if you have the budget. Since most of the good not-too-expensive smartphones run on Android these days, I would suggest you refer to our Hottest Upcoming Mobile Phones in 2011.

A game console

If He is mad about gaming, nothing would make a better gift than a gaming console. You can gift either the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360, as they both become GOD when it comes to games. If you are feeling generous, you can also throw in the PlayStation Move or Kinect, depending on which console you buy. If you are feeling even more generous, throw in a high definition LED backlit display and a sweet home theater system. But then you might as well find yourself another boyfriend, cause he ain't coming out of that room. Ever. Unless, He isn't a gamer. In that case, congratulations. You have found yourself a caveman. You should have just gifted him a new club.

A DSLR

If His hobby is photographing but does not have a good camera then there cannot be a better gift than a DSLR camera. Having upgraded to one myself, the difference in image quality over standard point-and-shoot cameras is astounding and worth the high price. Although you can get an entry-level DSLR for about Rs. 22,500 (Canon EOS 1000D), I would recommend spending ten grand more and getting the Canon EOS 500D for bonus hugs and kisses.

Gifts for Girlfriend

Apps for her also

Coolest part about apps is that they can be a great gift for anyone. You also have plenty of cute Valentine's Day special apps on the App Store around this time of the year. Just follow the same drill mentioned above for gifting apps.

Pair of earphones

Give her a cute pair of earphones that look girly and sound great. Like these Sony MDR-EX10LP. Apart from the fact that they are pink, they also have a good design, with silicon eartips for passive noise isolation. It also has a cord adjuster to reduce tangle, and being Sony, you can expect them to sound great. Priced at Rs. 790, they are a pretty good deal. And they do come in different colors also.

A Digital Photo Frame

A digital photo frame is a great way to cherish your memories that you have collected in the form of digital photographs. Just load one up with pictures of both of you together and watch her go "aawww" cho chweeet over you! Our personal recommendation would be the Viewsonic VFD823-50. This cute frame costs Rs. 3,490 and has an 8-inch LCD with 800 x 600 pixel resolution.

A Cute Mobile Phone

Presenting, the Nokia X5 . It's pink and cute. Also, pink. Did I mention pink? The eye-watering color aside, the phone does have some pretty cool features. For example you can shake the phone to change the track or press the volume control and shake to know how many unread messages you have. It also has a 5 megapixel camera with flash, dedicated music key, 3G, WI-Fi and Bluetooth. It also comes with a full QWERTY keypad that would play nice with those long nails. And it has proven to be a hit with the ladies across the nation. Price: Rs. 9,199

Digital Camera

Does She like photography? So do her a favor and get her a shiny new digital camera such as the Sony DSC-TX7. It has a slim design, with a sliding lens cover, a 10.2 megapixel sensor with 4x optical zoom and FullHD video recording. It also has a large 3.5-inch touchscreen display for clicking your pictures and viewing them afterwards. Price: Rs. 17,990. Don't want to spend that much? Get the Canon PowerShot A3100 IS for Rs. 6,785.

The iPod nano
It's compact, it's cute, it's an iPod. Rs. 8,200 for the 8GB model and Rs. 12,900 for the 16 GB model.

A Handy Netbook

Currently, the only thing that pops up in our mind when someone mentions a netbook is the HP Mini 210. The little device packs in decent hardware and good performance in a very attractive looking design. Brownie points for that spacious keyboard and excellent trackpad. At only Rs. 19,999, the HP Mini 210 is what we recommend.
