And so it's begun, the great divide between Ice Cream Sandwich users and the poor saps stuck on Gingerbread or Honeycomb. If you're in the former comp, you'll be able to download the new Chrome for Android Beta, which looks and feels a lot better than the default Android browser, thanks to the cleaner interface. It offers extra features like syncing with Chrome, which lets you see any tabs you have open on any device (handy for moving between the browsing sessions on your computer, tablet and smartphone). as well as a unique tabbed interface on the smartphone version, and an 'incognito tab" mode that hides particular pages from your history.
But it doesn't sport oil the bells and whistles. Adobe Flash is one feature that's been left off the menu, which means you'll need to revert back to the default Android browser if you need to load Flash sites. Chrome for Android Beta doesn't support plug-ins or extensions like the desktop version of Chrome either.
The big question, though, is whether Chrome for Android Beta is any faster than the default browser. It feels faster, but the benchmarks we ran weren't really conclusive on this matter, Sunspider 0.9.1 reported a score of 2277.6ms for the default browser and 1966.1ms on Chrome (lower numbers are better), while Rightwore Browsermark reported a score of 109.925 for the default browser and 104,736 for Chrome (higher numbers are better). We switched to the more real-world test of loading up the desktop version of "The Pirado" website; the default Android browser fully looded the page in 17.5 seconds, while Chrome for Android Beta loaded it in a more leisurely 26.2 seconds.

Android users stuck on older versions of the platform aren't missing out on too much with this ICS-exclusive app. while the few that are blessed with ICS can take advantage of the cool syncing and Incognito features.
